How to assign approver to verify bulk Cashgrams?
When you create a large number of Cashgrams using the Bulk Cashgram
feature, you may want approval from the approver in your company before sending it to the customers. An approver can verify and approve the Cashgrams, and then send them to the customers.
One of the users in your company can add all the customer details in the file and upload the file and later another user can approve the Cashgrams. The approver has the option to accept or reject the Cashgrams. After approval, the Cashgrams are sent to customers, and you can view the status of the Cashgram in the Payout Dashboard.

What happens if the customer enters an incorrect bank account while redeeming a Cashgram?
If the customer enters an invalid bank account number or IFSC code we will notify him on the web page. But if the customer enters a valid but incorrect account number the money will be transferred to that bank account.
What is a Cashgram?
Cashgram is an instant payout link used by businesses to send money to their customers, vendors, or partners, even if you do not know their bank account details. Users can access the payment link sent via WhatsApp, email, or SMS, provide their details, and choose a payment method to receive the amount. Merchants can create a single Cashgram or create a larger number of Cashgrams at a time using the dashboard.

Cashgram helps businesses to instantly send money to users when bank account details are not known. With Cashgram, you can pay your vendors, partners, customers, or others instantly when you only know their mobile number or email address.
What changes in the new Cashgram? Creating a Cashgram With this new upgrade, you can now specify the type of disbursal you are doing with the Payout Type field (Example - refunds, reimbursements, rewards) and a brief note on why the disbursal is being made in the Payout Reason field.

How to generate a Cashgram?
You can create Cashgrams via the Payouts Dashboard or APIs. Ensure your Payouts account has sufficient balance, as funds are deducted from it to send money to beneficiaries.
Steps to create a Cashgram:
Navigate to: Payouts Dashboard > Cashgram > Create Cashgram.
Fill in the details:
Cashgram ID: A unique identifier to track the Cashgram. Payout Type: Select from Refunds, Reimbursements, Rewards, or add custom types. Beneficiary Details: Name, Phone Number, Email, and Transfer Amount. Validity: Set the expiry date for the Cashgram link. Reason & Remarks: Remarks will appear in the beneficiary’s bank statement if supported. Notification Mode: Choose Email, SMS, or WhatsApp to notify the beneficiary. Click “Create”: The Cashgram link is sent to the beneficiary. They can click the link, provide details, and receive the funds.
How to generate bulk Cashgrams?
When you have to create and send Cashgrams to a large number of customers you can use the ‘Bulk Cashgram’ feature. You can upload the file with the details using the ‘Upload File’ button in the Payouts Dashboard. You can view the status of the uploaded files and also download them to view further details.
To upload a batch file:
Go to Payouts Dashboard > Cashgram > Batch > click Upload File.
Click Choose a File to select the file you want to upload and then click Upload. The uploaded file will be visible in the Batch section.
Click on the file to view the individual Cashgram details uploaded in the file. Note- Maximum file size allowed is 5 MB, and a maximum of 10000 records can be included in the file.
How secure is Cashgram?
Cashgram is a secure way to transfer money to your customers. Once you create a Cashgram for a user only that user with the provided phone number can use that Cashgram. Cashgram is also active only for a limited amount of time, you can control the expiry time of each Cashgram. Post expiry, no one will be able to view/redeem the Cashgram.
Once a Cashgram has been redeemed or expired, the customer will not be able to view it again.
How do I let a user know that I have generated a Cashgram for them?
You can use the dashboard to notify the user about their Cashgram. We will notify the customer over email or SMS.
Why is a customer’s Cashgram status showing as pending?
Once the customer submits their bank details to redeem a Cashgram we will initiate a bank transfer from Merchant’s account to the customer’s bank account.When the transfer status is yet to be confirmed, the Cashgram is in the Pending state. At this point, the partner bank could be processing the payout, and no further action is required from your end. The Pending state can transition into:
Redeemed state, if the Cashgram is successfully redeemed.
Failed state, if the Cashgram could not be redeemed.
What happens if the user fails to get money using Cashgram?
If a beneficiary fails to redeem a Cashgram, it will appear as Failed on your dashboard. The Failed state is final and cannot transition to any other state.
Common reasons for failure include:
Incorrect beneficiary account details.
Insufficient balance in your Payouts account. Enable Low Balance Alerts to get notified when your balance falls below a set threshold.
Downtime or issues with partner or beneficiary bank servers.
Most failures occur due to exceeding OTP limits. Ensure accurate details and sufficient balance to minimize such occurrences.
What are Payout links?
A Payout Links is a way to instantly send money to your beneficiaries without knowing their bank account details. You can simply create a payout link from the Cashfree Payments dashboard, and send it to your vendors/ customers on their email id or mobile number.
Will I be notified if the Cashgram I generated is used?
Once the customer redeems a Cashgram its status changes from ACTIVE to REDEEMED instantly. You will be able to view this on the dashboard. You will also be notified over email once a Cashgram has been successfully redeemed, if merchant has opted for the email notification.
How do I use a Cashgram?
To use a Cashgram you need to have a Cashfree account. From your Cashfree dashboard, you can create a new Cashgram for a customer. The typical process is listed below-
The merchant creates a Cashgram filling in the customer’s phone number. The customer receives SMS and email notification about this Cashgram generated by the Merchant. The customer visits the Cashgram link, authenticates, and enters their bank details. The money is instantly transferred from Merchant’s account to the customer’s bank account.
How can I start using Cashgram?
To start using Cashgram you will need to sign-up with Cashfree. If you already have a Payout account you can instantly start using Cashgram using the dashboard. Click on the “Cashgram” tab in the Payout dashboard.
My Cashgram link is not working. What do I do?
A Cashgram link may not work if it is in an Expired, Failed, or Reversed state. Cashgrams remain Active for up to 30 days or the specified duration and can transition to states like Redeemed, Expired, Failed, or Reversed. Check the Cashgram status on the Payouts Dashboard. If the Cashgram link sent to you has expired. Please get in touch with the merchant to get a new Cashgram.
Can the customer view and redeem a Cashgram any time?
Yes, the Cashgram recipient will be able to view and redeem their Cashgram at any time.
What happens if the Cashgram is never used?
Every Cashgram has an expiry date. If the Cashgram is not redeemed before this expiry date, the Cashgram will become inactive. No one will be able to view/redeem such an inactive Cashgram.
How will you verify user identity for Cashgram?
We authenticate users using OTP so that only authorized users can view/redeem a Cashgram. Without a valid OTP, nobody can view/redeem a particular Cashgram.
Can customers also redeem money to their UPI account?
If you have UPI enabled in your Smart Payout account your customers will be able to redeem a Cashgram to their UPI account.
Can customers also redeem money to their PayTM account?
If you have PayTM enabled in your Smart Payout account your customers will be able to redeem a Cashgram to their PayTM account.

Is Cashgram different from Payout links?
Cashgram is a payout link with many additional features. You can customize your Cashgram links with your company logo and color to reflect your brand. You can also set up a link expiry time and verify the beneficiary’s name before sending out the money.
I am not able to receive the OTP.
Please verify your mobile number with the merchant. You can receive the OTP via SMS or WhatsApp. If one method does not work, we recommend trying the alternative. In case you are still not receiving the OTP, Please reach out to us from here.

I received a Cashgram on email but the mobile number mentioned on the Cashgram is incorrect. How do I proceed?
It seems that the Merchant entered a different mobile number while generating the Cashgram. Please reach out to the merchant to get this changed.
My Cashgram transfer is showing successful but I have not received the money in my account?
The money should be transferred into your account in some time. If you do not receive the amount within one hour please fill out the Support Form. Do mention your email id, phone number, Cashgram Id, and merchant name in your email.
My Cashgram transfer failed, what do I do now?
A Cashgram can fail due to:
Incorrect beneficiary account details.
Insufficient balance in your Payouts account. To avoid this, set a Low Balance Alert to receive notifications when the balance falls below a specified amount.
Downtime in partner or beneficiary bank servers.
Please reach out to the merchant so that they can generate a new Cashgram for you.
What all details do I need to redeem a Cashgram?
Cashgram can be redeemed to your bank account, UPI VPA, or PayTM. If any of the above modes is not enabled for you, please get in touch with the merchant.
My Cashgram transfer is pending, when will the money be credited into my account?
When the transfer status is yet to be confirmed, the Cashgram is in the Pending state. At this point, the partner bank could be processing the payout, and no further action is required from your end.
